Lambert Airport lands five new stores

The first batch of stores operated by Lambert-St. Louis International Airport's new retail concessionaire are now open, airport officials announced today.
In August, the joint venture HG-St. Louis JV, which includes travel retailer the Hudson Group, won the airport's retail concessions contract. After taking over operations Feb. 1, Hudson has opened five of 14 planned new shops. Among them are:
Hudson's flagship travel convenience store in Terminal 1 on the C Concourse near gate C18;Bliss located in the C Concourse near gate C15;Discover St. Louis store in Terminal 2 near gate E18;Spectacles eyewear store located in Terminal 2 near gate E12;Kids Works located in Terminal 2 near gate E22.
A sixth store, another Spectacles location, will open next week in the C Concourse.
Until now, Hudson Group has been operating out of existing locations or temporary kiosks. Other stores still in the works include Eddie Bauer, Ebony News, CNN Newsstand St. Louis and other Hudson locations.
"This is Lambert's biggest retail makeover in two decades and our customers will have a whole new shopping experience with new brands and product offerings," Lambert Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge said in a statement.
The Hudson Group joint venture replaced Paradies Group as the airport's concessionaire after 20 years. The agreement, which guarantees a minimum of $14 million in the first three years, is expected to bring in $41 million to the airport over the full term of the lease.
Hudson Group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swiss travel retailer Dufry AG.
