St. Louis Startups Catching the Eye of MapQuest Co-Founder Chris Heivly

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) - Another incubator for tech startups is considering making St. Louis the site of its first-ever expansion.
MapQuest co-founder Chris Heivly was in town Wednesday. He is the director of Ralegh-Durham's Triangle Startup Factory, and says he's been eyeing the scene in St. Louis.
"We have kind of a soft spot and an interest in communities that aren't called Silicon Valley and New York," said Heivly. "I root for St. Louis from a far, at the very least."
He issued a challenge before he came: get a hundred entrepreneurs together in less than a week.
St. Louis met that challenge Wednesday night with several hundred coming out to welcome Heivly at the CORTEX research district. Heivly told those in the crowd to be patient.
"The companies that are starting today, some percentage of that will kind of matriculate to becoming great companies five years from now, but you don't start at that level."
