The Municipal Theatre Association, or The Muny, reported an increase in total attendance and revenue for the 2013 season.

The outdoor theatre recorded total patron attendance of 383,485, up 6.4 percent compared with 360,307 recorded in the prior-year season.

"This summer, The Muny followed the inspiration of Mary Poppins and flew high," said Denny Reagan, president and CEO of The Muny, in a statement. "Beginning with an 85 percent season ticket renewal and continuing through the closing day of the season, audience response to our 95th season has been nothing short of spectacular!"

The private nonprofit organization reported total ticket revenue increased 18.7 percent compared to last year's revenue. The Muny reported a 13 percent increase in annual contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations.

The Muny's production of Mary Poppins was the most popular show of the season, attracting a total audience of 79,719 people over its nine-performance run. The next most-attended show was Shrek, followed by West Side Story, Les Misérables, South Pacific, Nunsense Muny Style! and Spamlot.

For its fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2012, The Muny reported total revenue of $17.3 million and total expenses of $13.1 million, according to its most recent IRS filing.
