A commute through St. Louis will get more challenging this summer. Kingshighway will be closed between Shaw Boulevard and Vandeventer Avenue starting July 6.
Traffic will be rerouted onto Vandeventer for two years, as the 75-year-old Kingshighway bridge will be demolished and rebuilt.
According to a press release from the mayor's office, Vandeventer will get additional lanes.
Road Closed
Kingshighway will close between Shaw and Vandeventer on July 6.
Detours:
Southbound drivers will turn left onto Shaw, then right onto Vandeventer, then a slight left where Vandeventer meets Kingshighway.
Northbound drivers will make a right onto Vandeventer and continue north, crossing under I-44 before making a left onto McCree and then a right on Kingshighway.
Drivers on eastbound I-44 who want to take Kingshighway south should exit at Vandeventer and turn right.
