Musicians from the world-renowned Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra will conduct a special Earth Day performance of Christian Woehr's "Artikos", at 10 and 11 am on April 20. "Artikos" is a musical composition / slide show inspired by Mr. Woehr's solo journey across the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in the summer of 1988. "Artikos" is in three movements coordinated with three parts of the slide show depicting scenery and wildlife photos from his trek across Alaska. This world premiere performance at the Science Center features Rebecca Boyer on violin, Christian Woehr on viola and Melissa Brooks Rubright on cello. Each performance lasts approximately 17 minutes. A children's area will feature an activity showing how paper is made and what products are made from recycled materials. Kids will have an opportunity to interact with Junior Science Academy members and learn how recycling everyday household items benefits the environment.
