Special Events Swing Dance for All Generations Sunday, September 8 2 to 4 p.m. Treat your grandchildren and yourselves to a free Swing Dance in honor of Grandparents Day. Dress casually and enjoy live music for all ages. The Show Stoppers from Parkway South High School entertain at 3 p.m. Listen to Your Heart: A Special Evening for Women Wednesday, October 23 6:30 to 9 p.m. Join us for this special evening focusing on the prevention of heart disease in women. Keynote speaker, Marcia McCoy of the Women's Cardiac Center at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, presents an overview on risk factors, unique characteristics of heart disease in women, and how to partner with your physician. Breakout sessions offer information on diet and exercise, hormone replacement, and emotions that can affect your heart. 12th Annual Opportunity Fair Tuesday, October 29 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Golden Opportunities at St. Luke's Hospital hosts its 12th annual Opportunity Fair for adults age 55 and older. Get your flu shot, then enjoy health screenings, mini-medical presentations, information booths and a free lunch. Our featured speaker is Kathy Passanisi, popular humorist and motivational presenter. Tobacco Cessation Breaking Free from Smoking Thursdays, Sept. 19 through Oct. 17 and Tuesday, Oct. 1 7 to 8:30 p.m. Cost: $65 If you want to quit smoking, St. Luke's can help. This six-session program teaches behavior modification, stress management, craving and appetite control and more. A group hypnosis session on Tuesday, October 1 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. is included in the program. Hypnosis for Smoking Cessation Tuesday, October 1 7 to 8:30 p.m. Many people find hypnosis a useful tool in their tobacco cessation efforts. This free group session, led by Dennis Shea, Ph.D., could be the key that helps you. This program is free, but registration is requested.
