January 21 to 23, 2002. The delegation members are: Mr. Xiong, Guozhang
(R2), Vice President of the university, Mr. Xiong, Xingmin
(R1), Dean of Mechanical Engineering Department, Ms. Pi, Yuanzhen
(L1), Professor of Chinese, and Ms. Li, Shu-e (L2), Associate Professor of English.

The main purpose of this delegation's visit to the North America is to visit community college system of the United States and Canada. St. Louis and St. Louis Community College is the first stop of the visit. During the three days in St. Louis, the delegation visited St. Louis Community College at Forest Park campus, and visited some tourist attractions of St. Louis city.  
On January 22, the delegation visited Forest Park campus of St. Louis Community college. President Nichols invited all her associate deans and members of the campus Global Education committee members to meet with the delegation during the special luncheon for the delegation. President Nichols warmly welcomed the delegation to St. Louis and Forest Park campus. She specially thanked President Liu for hosting a faculty delegation to Changsha University in 1999, and she also expressed her support for Global Education. During the luncheon, President Nichols and President Liu exchanged gifts. In the afternoon, Dr. Nichols and her administration had a discussion with the delegation on the possibilities of future cooperation. After the discussion, Dean Devote and Ms. Donna Bakke made presentations on Forest Park and its web site for the China exchange project. In the evening, the delegation was invited to a Chinese dinner by Dr. Smith, Executive Dean of Forest Park.

In St. Louis, the delegation also visited Washington University. They had a great impression of the Eastern Asian Library. In addition, they visited the Arch, Mississippi River, and Anheuser Busch Brewery Company.
The delegation left for Kentucky on January 23. They will also visit other community colleges in the states and Canada.
