Father's Day Special - You Look Just Like Your Father

	Since Fathers day is approaching, I recalled an incident that happened at a 
Ladies spring luncheon.

	I had been invited to a banquet by my daughter.  She was running late, and 
I arrived early.  I chose a table that could accommodate my daughter, her 
friend and the grand children.

	After several minutes, a young mother arrived with her baby boy.  She asked 
if she could sit down at my table.

	I told her she was more than welcome ,and there would be room for all of us.
An older woman was passing by our table, when she stopped suddenly.  She 
turned to the woman and asked: "Is that Kevin Jones son?"  "It has to be 
Kevin's son, he looks exactly like him!"  "He has his fathers eyes!"
The young mother was surprised that someone would know the identify of her 
child just by looking at him.  "She replied Yes!, you must know my husband!"
Jesus taught his disciples, in John 14:6, He who has seen me has seen the 
Father.  Jesus was the perfect reflection of God the Father.  If his 
disciples wanted to know what God was like, they were to look at Jesus.  He 
and the Father are one.
	
	Sometimes people reflect on their childhood and remember their father as a 
strict disciplinarian.  Never experiencing a hug, or kiss from their 
father, never hearing the words,"I love you." Children from this household 
often say that they do not want to be like their father. Rebellion seems to 
prevail in the household. Children can be bitter towards God as a result.

	Others look back and recall vacations, time spent together playing ball, 
fishing, hunting, and being protected and nurtured.  Times of correction 
were always done in love, so that the relationship remained even 
stronger.  It was easy to give this father respect and obedience.  Instead 
of rebellion, children do not want to disappoint their father.

	I have heard people say that they cannot worship God.  They seem to think 
of God the Father the same way they think of their earthly father.  They do 
not want contact with either one.

	I am glad that God loved us so much that he sent his son Jesus,.  I did not 
want to know God, yet he pursued me and loving broke down all my 
defenses. By reading about Him, I know how much I am loved, nurtured and 
protected.  I know that I can approach God at any time.  I pray that I may 
never disappoint him, yet I often do.  My prayer is that I will 
increasingly reflect the image of my heavenly Father, so that others will 
notice, I have my Fathers eyes!
