SAINT LOUIS SYMPHONY YOUTH ORCHESTRA ACCEPTING PRELIMINARY AUDITION TAPES

WHO:	The Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra

WHAT:	Preliminary Audition cassette tapes and CDs accepted through July 8.
	
	Preliminary auditions are a requirement for all interested music students who have never been a member of the Youth Orchestra.

	The applicant is required to prepare and record an unaccompanied solo performance of his/her choice 3-5 minutes in length, and 2 scales, one major and one minor (in melodic form) with at least 3 flats or sharps.  Sorry, no videotapes will be accepted.

Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra Associate Conductor David Amado serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.  Founded in 1970 by Leonard Slatkin, the Youth Orchestra acquaints young musicians (ranging from 12-22 years of age) with the atmosphere of a professional orchestra by introducing them to the professional environment of the SLSO.  The critically acclaimed Youth Orchestra rehearses and performs a wide spectrum of symphonic works and presents three concerts each season at Powell Symphony Hall.
