Zooline Railroad begins its 39th season on March 14

It is "all aboard" when the St. Louis Zoo's miniature railroad opens its 2002 season at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 14.  On the Zooline Railroad, passengers can purchase a ticket at one of four stations, leave the train to visit animal exhibits and then re-board.

The 20-minute narrated tour weaves through tunnels and past favorite animal exhibits on a 1 1/2 mile round trip.  This will be the 39th season for the Zooline Railroad, one of the Zoo's most popular attractions.  Over the past 38 years, the Zooline Railroad has transported more than 27 million visitors.

The Zooline Railroad has improved accessibility to the trains for persons using wheelchairs.  Passengers in wheelchairs will have a larger area on the train car this year,  with fold down seats for companions.  The Zoo has also added ramps with lower slopes.

A round trip on the Zooline Railroad is $4.00.  An All Day Pass is available at the Zoo's Guest Services desk for $10.00 per person, with a value of $16.50.  This provides unlimited use of the Insectarium, Children's Zoo and Zooline Railroad and other Zoo extras.  During the summer season, it also includes the Sea Lion Show.
