St. Louis 2004 - A heritage of celebrating the fourth year of each new century St. Louis 2004 is a catalyst for improvement in the St. Louis region, bringing people, organizations and resources together to make the region a better place to live, work and recreate. In all of its work, St. Louis 2004: Involves the region's residents in identifying problems, opportunities and solutions; Facilitates sustainable improvement by fostering collaboration in project implementation; and Motivates the community to action that generates a strong sense of regional pride. By the year 2004, the region will have an inclusive decision-making structure. St. Louis will be known as a region driven by positive community energy that attracts residents from around the world. The St. Louis Region The St. Louis region is made up of 2.5 million men, women and children who live, work, and play within 70 miles of the Arch. Rich in history, diverse in heritage and beliefs, our region is made up of 12 counties including: Clinton, Jersey, Madison, Monroe, and St. Clair in Illinois; Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, St. Charles, St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and Warren in Missouri. While each county, city, and neighborhood has its own identity, strengths and needs, each is connected to the region through employment, transportation, education, cultural interests, sports and recreational attractions, health facilities, and a shared vision for a better future.
