"Adventures in Wild California" Opens May 3, 2002

	Careen down icy slopes with snowboarders; twirl above the clouds with sky surfers; swim with baby otters; excavate the heart of a 265-foot tall sequoia and emerge from under the spray of one of the Pacific's biggest, surfable waves. All of this, and you never have to leave St. Louis! 

	The spirit of the American West is wonderfully captured in Adventures in Wild California, the new OMNIMAX film at the Science Center May 3-Sept. 2, 2002. The film is full of exciting and personal stories of unique risk-takers and adventurers, extreme athletes, innovative scientists and fearless conservationists who push the limits of what is possible for humans to achieve in nature. 

	Created by MacGillivray Freeman Films, the same team that produced Everest and Dolphins, and narrated by Emmy nominated actor Jimmy Smits, Adventures in Wild California is a celebration of California's wild nature and a call to preserve and protect its wild places for future generations of adventurers.

	Tickets: adults, $7; children/senior adults, $6.

	A 40-minute film that will take audiences on an "Adventures in Wild California" Skyboard the skies over California's coastline, surfing 30 foot waves in the Pacific Ocean, snowboard the mountains, walk the Golden Gate Bridge and more. Meet Jeff Clark - surfer, Brian Iguchi - snowboarder and aquarist - Susan Campbell. A true California adventurer featured in the film, world champion skysurfer Troy Hartman explains "The biggest part for me is being able to express my creative nature in my sport and California is a place where extreme sports, like skysurfing, are completely accepted.
