Dear Editor, 

 
Hello, my name is Janet Tang, a Chinese American born in St. Louis and attending college here in the area. First, I think the scanews.com website is a great way to unite the local Chinese American community. I also think it is a wonderful way to inform your readers about recent and past events. The forum, which is one of my favorite sections to visit, gives a chance for people to voice their opinions on various issues whether it be political or personal. It also gives me a chance to listen to perspectives different than my own. Most of all, the website serves to empower and to establish a foundation for Chinese St. Louisans. Having said that, I would like to add a suggestion to your website. Although I think the site is remarkably informative, I would like to add another suggestion to the site. Growing up, I never learned how to read Chinese. I am actually taking a course on Modern Chinese at Washington University this coming fall, however, I predict that I will not be able to learn in such a magnitude that I will be able read the newspaper in order to understand the scope of the website's contents. Therefore, I propose an English version of your website to not only Chinese Americans like myself who are not completely fluent in Chinese but also to your non-Chinese American audience who are interested in the views from people who are of Chinese ancestry, and in general, the Chinese/Chinese American culture. Thank you for your time and patience, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
