The City has put on the November 5, 2002 ballot Proposition K, which if approved would increase the sales tax by 1/4 cent to renovate and upgrade the outdoor Heman Park pool and the recreation center, including the fitness center. The monies also would be used to fund the building of a new year-round gym, which would include basketball/volleyball courts, an elevated track and shower and locker rooms. Under the proposal, the basic structure of the pool would remain the same. The renovations would include replacing all the piping and the lining of the pool. General schematic plans have been drawn up to renovate and improve the existing pool. There are also general schematic plans to improve the facilities within the current recreation center, including the fitness center, and to build a new year-round gym next to the current soccer facility. We would like your opinion on the need to develop a long-term MASTER PLAN for the recreation center complex before making some of these improvements.
