Pastor Daniel Chong

The Reverend Daniel Chong from the Lutheran Church of Malaysia and Singapore has been called to develop this new ministry. He is a Malaysia born Chinese, who graduated from the Lutheran Bible Training Institute. He continued to further his studies at Trinity College of Singapore, and later earned his Master of Theology in Taiwan. 

Pastor Chong began his pastoral ministry in 1965. Later, he served on the Stewardship and Finance committee and was also appointed District Dean in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. He was subsequently elected as the secretary of the Executive council of the LCMS. He was elected to the position of Bishop to LCMS in 1985 and served two terms until 1993. He also served as the consultant for both Stewardship and Church economy for the South East Asia region for the Lutheran World Federation (LWF). In 1989, Pr. Chong was elected to the council of LWF and served until 1997. After his two terms as Bishop in 1993, Pr. Chong was appointed as Asian consultant for the LWF to develop the regionalization plan for Asia. 

With his many and varied experiences and commitment to the gospel, St. Louis is blessed to have Pr. Chong among us to develop what promises to be fruitful ministry.
