SAINT LOUIS SYMPHONY YOUTH ORCHESTRA ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR AUDITIONS WHO: The Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra WHAT: The Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra is accepting applications for auditions from students age 12 -21 who play violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba or percussion.  Students should be enrolled in their school music programs. Once the application is accepted, the applicant will be scheduled for an audition on May 22, 23, or 24.  The applicant will be required to perform one 3 - 5 minute unaccompanied solo of the applicant’s choice and two scales, one major and one minor (in melodic form) with at least 3 flats or sharps (minimum of 2 octaves).  Please call (314) 286-4407 or e-mail peggy@slso.org to get an application brochure. The Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra rehearses weekly on Saturday 2:00 - 4:30 p.m.  Annual tuition is $500 (limited aid available). Founded in 1970 by Leonard Slatkin, the Youth Orchestra acquaints young musicians with the atmosphere of a professional orchestra by introducing them to the professional environment of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.  The critically acclaimed Youth Orchestra rehearses and performs a wide spectrum of symphonic works and presents three concerts each season at Powell Symphony Hall.
