	Making his St. Louis debut, Emmanuel Krivine leads the Orchestra in an all-Beethoven repertoire in the first concerts of the New Year at Powell Symphony Hall.  Maestro Krivine has appeared with many world-class ensembles, in addition to serving as Musical Director of the Orchestra National de Lyon from 1987 through 2000, where he made many award-winning recordings.
	
	The concerts at 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, and Saturday, January 4, and 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, feature: the Egmont Overture, written as incidental music to Goethe's play about the Flemish hero; the vibrant Symphony No. 8; and one of the most widely known works of classical music ever written, the extraordinary Symphony No. 5.
Associate Conductor David Amado will present an informative lecture beginning one hour before the start of each concert.  The lectures are free to concert ticket holders.
