St. Louis Mayor To Join Youth In Need For Grand Opening Of New Southside Site

    (St. Louis, MO) Youth In Need (YIN), a non-profit organization serving 
the children and families of East-Central Missouri, is proud to announce the 
opening of a new Head Start site, located at 3013 Meramec Street in the 
Dutchtown neighborhood of South St. Louis city. Francis G. Slay, Mayor of 
the City of St. Louis will participate in a ribbon cutting and 
building-dedication ceremony on Monday, June 16th to kick off the grand opening of this facility. Beginning at 2:00pm, YIN will conduct open house tours of the building until 
5:00pm.

    Head Start is a comprehensive educational and developmental program, 
offering both classroom-based and home-based service options for 
income-eligible families with children ages 3-5. YIN's St. Louis City Head 
Start program has been specially designed to meet the needs of the 
surrounding community, including those of New American families. The program 
meets the cultural needs of the Bosnian, Kurdish, Arab, Vietnamese, Somali, 
Congolese, Afghan, Farsi, and Hispanic communities, with over 18 foreign 
languages and dialects spoken.

    Since the organization's founding in 1974, the vision of Youth In Need 
remains constant: to be the leader and driving force in making children's 
healthy development and well-being the community's highest priority, 
particularly for those who face adversity.  Youth In Need serves over 5,000 
children and families each year with more than 50 residential-treatment, 
community, early-childhood, educational, counseling, and employment 
programs.
