DC Metro Area Number of Vacancies: 1 Notes: Vacancy Open Until Filled General duties and responsibilities include (please see http://career.psc.gov/CHPublic/HRShowVac.taf?&VACANCY_uid1=1583&_Title=EV for details): Serves as the federal liaison between the Office of the White House Initiative on (Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders) AAPIs and the thirty-three Federal agencies enlisted to work on the White House Initiative on AAPIs. Performs analytical work that contributes to increasing opportunities and improving access to Federal programs and services for the nation's AAPI populations. onducts studies and performs other analytical work related to the planning, development, organization, administration, evaluation, and delivery of a broad range of public policy programs related to AAPIs. Provides technical assistance, consultation, and guidance to national, state, and/or local agencies, community-based organizations, or research entities regarding the development, extension, and improvement of studies, programs, systems, strategies, and services that span issues of health, economic and community development, education, immigration, and more specific to the AAPI populations. Promotes federal programs for the AAPI populations by stimulating activity and providing leadership to agencies and organizations in the development, extension, and improvement of their systems, strategies, and services. Participates in agency operational or planning meetings, public briefings, or other formal or informal settings where the incumbent publicizes program accomplishments and solicits resources or other forms of support and cooperation necessary to ensure program success. Reviews legislation, develops strategies and approaches for program implementation, and prepares issue and policy papers. Monitors accomplishments against established implementation goals and milestones. Establishes program evaluation criteria and condition. Performs work in establishing the standards by which the program will be judged. Plans and develops public projects/ programs. Plans, promotes, and develops public projects/ programs by stimulating activity and providing leadership. Serves as the recognized authority or consultant for one or more programs, studies, or activities. orks with the White House Initiative's Community and Commission Liaisons to coordinate community and Commission endeavors. Serves as an advisor to the Executive Director on federal programs, process, and policies. Basic Qualification Requirements: Interested candidates should be college or university faculty members or policy analysts in non-profit organizations with appropriate substantive expertise and methodological skills, with training in such areas as public health, public policy, education, public administration, economic and community development, and other related disciplines. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) required for the position are those that demonstrate performance of the duties and responsibilities as outlined above. In addition, we are looking for someone who possess: Extensive knowledge of the overall needs of the AAPI communities, especially in the areas of health, economic and community development, education and immigration, and other major and relevant issues impacting the AAPI communities. Extensive knowledge of the specific needs of the most underserved AAPI populations. Ability to develop policies and programs to meet the AAPI needs. Ability to develop on overall strategies to improve the well-being of AAPIs. Demonstrates ability to work with senior governmental officials. Extensive knowledge and working experience in how the Federal government operates, with specific expertise in administrative processes and procedures. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, including superb written and verbal skills. Incumbent is expected to be able to convey in simplicity complex policy and program materials.
