Stepping Stones bereavement camp open to children for sharing and making memories (St. Louis) For the fifth year, children ages 6-12 who have recently lost a sibling, parent or grandparent will gather at Camp Wyman in Eureka, Missouri for a full weekend of lots of fun, lots of sights, and lots of support. Stepping Stones is a three-day-long bereavement camp coordinated by BJC Hospice. It is led by professional staff and community volunteers and is planned for children who are grieving the loss of a family member. The professional staff offers children opportunities to safely express their feelings and identify with peers. Counselors include registered nurses, therapists, licensed social workers and medical clinicians. Specially trained volunteers mix in fun, with swimming, games, a carnival, crafts, music and drama. This year's session will be held Aug. 15-17 at Camp Wyman. Participants should have experienced their loss prior to six months ago.
