Rockwood Community to Discuss School Funding ST. LOUIS, OCTOBER 30, 2003 - How is Saint Louis County's largest school district handling the challenges of rising expenditures and slowing revenue? On Thursday, Nov. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m., about 200 Rockwood residents will gather to discuss school finance issues at the district's Administrative Center Annex, 500 N. Central in Eureka. The discussion is part of Point Rockwood, a public engagement process designed to help shape the future of the Rockwood School District. David Glaser, the District's chief financial officer, will provide an overview of Rockwood's current funding sources. The meeting will also address Rockwood's participation in the Voluntary Interdistrict Choice Corporation (VICC) program and the potential impact of DaimlerChrysler's efforts to reduce its personal property tax assessment. The November 13 Point Rockwood meeting is the third in a series of ten public meetings scheduled to take place throughout the year. Future meeting topics include school safety, class sizes and the importance of quality staffing. A complete list of future Point Rockwood meetings is available on the district's Web site at www.rockwood.k12.mo.us. The district also has produced a six-minute video explaining the Point Rockwood process and the need for public involvement and input.
