Winter Wonderland 2003-2004


The Eighteenth Annual WINTER WONDERLAND presented by St. Louis County Parks - slowly meander ONE MILE through OVER A MILLION TWINKLING HOLIDAY LIGHTS fashioned into OVER 100 DISPLAYS OF FAVORITE CHARACTERS AND FESTIVE SCENES as well as a CANOPY OF LIGHTS glistening through out 75 ACRES of forest in Tilles Park in St. Louis County.  

When:	

	November 26, 2003 through January 4, 2004.

	Closed Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.                                                    
	Note: Saturdays for carriage rides only - closed to vehicular traffic.

Time:	5:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Sunday through Friday.  Saturdays by carriage ride reservation only.

Where:	Tilles Park at the corner of Litzsinger and McKnight Roads in St. Louis County.

Directions:	US Highway 40/I-64 to McKnight Road south.  Follow the signs to Winter Wonderland.

Admission:	$8 per family vehicle
	$10 per limousine
	$30 per commercial transport van
	$75 per tour bus
	No reservations needed for cars, limousines, vans or buses.  Admission paid as vehicles exit the Park.

Carriage:	Horse-drawn carriage rides are available every night.  Carriage choices include small private coaches

Rides:	seating up to six people; large private coaches seating up to ten people; and group coaches seating up to 26 people.  Rides are approximately twenty minutes long.  Advance reservations are required for all carriage rides and ticket prices vary depending on type of coach and number in party.  Tickets are available online at Ticketmaster.com; at all Ticketmaster Centers including Famous Barr stores, Blue Note Sports Shops, select Schnucks Video Clubs and Streetside Records; or by telephone at 314/421-4400, 314/241-1888 or 618/222-2900.  Ticketmaster applies a convenience fee to carriage ride reservations.

30 St. Louis County Parks employees begin in early October to set up the lights plus 415 hours of volunteer time from 120 volunteers.  This workforce sets up
- over 1,000,000 twinkling lights 
- 15,670 strands of lights 
- equal to over 187 miles of lights, strand-to-strand 
- connected by approximately 18 miles of extension cords 
- and 1200 rolls of electrical tape 
- 27 ground displays with 170 individual pieces plus a canopy of lights glistening throughout the 75 acres of forest of Tilles Park.

Displays:	Favorites include the spectacular 46'L x 28'H Old Man Winter blowing around the stars and snowflakes; the popular 40'L x 26'H tunnel of lights; deer drinking at the bubbling brook that meanders through the center of the Park; the 38'L x 21'H Santa's Toy Company; a holiday bell display; Santa's sleigh and his reindeer in flight; and much more.

History:	2003-2004 is Winter Wonderland's eighteenth year.  Beginning in 1986, over 1.75 million people have visited Winter Wonderland.  Each year a wide variety of local not-for-profit organizations help with the event and are beneficiaries.  Over one quarter of a million dollars has been distributed to the organizations that have been involved.  St. Louis County Parks continues the tradition and is proud to support not-for-profit organizations with proceeds from Winter Wonderland 2003-2004.
