Asian Artists Voices October 13 - November 7, 2003, Rossman School Exhibiting Artists: Yingxue Zuo, Jimmy Liu, Dong Feng Li, Lampo Leong, Yueh-Ling Lo The Voices program was started in October 1995 as a collaborative effort between Rossman School, Art St. Louis and Portfolio with a show entitled Voices: Five African American Artists. The goal of the program was --- and continues to be --- to bring in to the school artists from different racial and ethnic backgrounds who could work with Rossman School students, broadening their multicultural experiences and being outstanding role models. In the last eight years (there was no show in 2000 because of extensive building taking place at the school) the show has featured not only African American artists, but also Asian-American, Hispanic-Latino and Native American artists. The artists spend time as artists-in-residence, sometimes demonstrating their works, sometimes working directly with the students in creating their own projects. This year, the artists will be demonstrating their creative skills in the Alumni Commons, the same area where the pieces of art are exhibited. This year, Yingxue Zuo (who first exhibited his works here in 1996) will be painting a portrait of one of Rossman School students. Seeing one of their schoolmates come to life on paper truly captivates Rossman School students. Public is welcome to see and enjoy the exhibit any time Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Rossman School address: 12660 Conway Road, St. Louis, MO 63141-8625 Tel: 314-434-5877, URL: www.rossmanschool.org
