Rockwood Community to Discuss 'No Child Left Behind'

ST. LOUIS, OCTOBER 17, 2003- Nearly 200 Rockwood residents will gather
to discuss student achievement and the federal No Child Left Behind Act
Thursday, Oct. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the district's Administrative
Center Annex, 500 North Central in Eureka. The discussion is part of
Point Rockwood, a public engagement process designed to help shape the
future of the Rockwood School District. 

Representatives from the Missouri Department of Elementary and
Secondary Education will speak about No Child Left Behind and the
Missouri School Improvement Program. Dr. Bertha Doar, Rockwood's
coordinator of assessment, will discuss test scores and student
achievement.

The October 23 Point Rockwood meeting is the second in a series of ten
public meetings scheduled to take place throughout the year. Future
meeting topics include school finance, technology and the importance of
