St. Louis Metro Ford Dealers Ottertoberfest. Jammin' at the Zoo. The happy hour presented by the Young Zoo Friends will benefit the St. Louis Zoo's conservation efforts for the Grevy's zebra.  The wild bash takes place from 6-10 p.m., in the center of the beautiful Zoo grounds.  Enjoy live music from Poppies 3 and Gargoyle Reign.  Food and drinks will be available for purchase.  Admission is $5 per person and free for Zoo Friends members.  Enter the Zoo at South Gate near Hwy. 40 and Z-O-O pylon.  Free parking on the south lot.  No reservations needed.  Ages 21 and up only.  Event is rain or shine.  For information, 314/768-5440 or www.stlzoo.org/yzf.  Sponsored by St. Louis Magazine and 101.1 The River.

St. Louis Zoo Friends Speaker Series: "Adrift in a Sand Sea: Conservation Efforts of Desert Antelopes in Northwest Africa."  Bill Houston, Zoo's assistant general curator, will share the mystique and surprising beauty of the Sahara and its inhabitants as well as his thoughts on what can and should be done to preserve this region.  Doors open at 7 p.m.; lecture at 7:30 p.m. in The Living World.
