Sixth grade students from Mary Emily
Bryan Middle School in St. Charles, MO are honored to share in the reconstruction of Taiwan after the devastating earthquake of September 21,
1999. The students' math teacher, Marci Brunner, suggested the method for the students to
participate in this humanitarian effort.

The St. Louis Chinese American News
staff is contributed their expertise in translating American names into comparable Chinese
characters for a donation. Francis Yueh, from Norwest Mortgage, Inc., spoke to the
students and described some interesting facts about Taiwan to them. As of Oct. 19, 1999,
donations total US $140.00. The funds have been delivered to the greater St. Louis Taiwan Earthquake Relief Fund.
