On behalf of the Organization of Chinese Americans, St. Louis, I would like to welcome you to the 2004 annual banquet. It's been a breathtaking and jubilant experience for me to serve you and this fine organization for the past two years. I first want to thank my Lord Jesus Christ for giving me the strength and passion to serve. I also want to thank my dear wife and two daughters for their unconditional support. Believe it or not, serving OCA, St. Louis has become a way of life for my family in the past two years. I can't begin to tell you how much I have benefited from being the St. Louis Chapter president. The benefits I've gained are in the areas of networking, friendship and humility. Little did I know how limited I was, and how much did I realize the power of networking. The greatest joy for me is to see our organization has grown to its prominence in the community. In the past two years, we have focused on developing leaders and educating our community on civil rights issues. We also asserted financial governance as our operating goal. As the result of the board's diligence, we are a financially sound organization today. Since the 1830's when Chinese immigrants stepped ashore to the United States, carrying with them great ambitions for the happiness of their families and hopes for better opportunities for their children's education, Chinese Americans have succeeded remarkably well in making these dreams a reality. Our achievement in the United States is a true testimony that the United States is indeed the land of the free and the home of the brave. "Embracing the Hopes and Aspirations of Chinese and Asian Pacific Americans in the United States" is the OCA tag line. We will continue to strife for this goal both locally and nationally.
Mr. Jason Tang and 7 energetic, enthusiastic, and talented board members are eager to serve you. I would plead for your continuous support to this organization and the values it stands for. I wish you the best of happiness and success. Enjoy the banquet.
